Modelling Is A Highly Competitive Industry

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

As with most industries, including modelling and acting, having contacts in the industry is vital and can be very helpful. However, it is vital that you also do not solely rely upon social connections. Increasing your auditions will of course increase your chances of landing that fabulous acting or modelling job that you have been striving to get.

When it comes to modelling there are many people that do not understand the industry and think that a model’s job is one where they live the life of luxury doing little other than posing for a camera. This, of course, is not true and modelling can be a tough industry with plenty of competition. Neither is it an easy job because to really make it you need to have many attributes that go beyond a pretty face and long legs.

Travelling is often a particularly fundamental part of modelling which means that a model can spend much time away from home on assignments and this means that they cannot always have their eye on the next model auditions to keep them ahead of the competition.

We at Audition Now are the perfect place to come to when you need to know when the next model auditions are taking place. Even when you are on location on your modelling assignment and want to keep ahead of modelling auditions, you can receive text updates to your phone. This means when you are ready you can make your way to your next modelling auditions, keeping the work flowing.

Being The Perfect Role Model In Your Casting Calls

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Should you have desires to make it in the modelling industry then you are at the perfect place to find out essential information about the industry and receive practical help, from portfolios to the latest model auditions.

It is essential to know as much as possible about the main type of modelling jobs that you will come across in catalogue, catwalk and magazine modelling.

If you are still deciding which type of modelling work is best suited to you then consider the following:

- If you have been considering catwalk modelling it is essential that you know exactly how to walk – often when you are alone and training for casting calls it can be very helpful to film yourself and then watch it back so you can see where your areas of weakness are.

- The absolute minimum height you can be to be considered for catwalk modelling if you are female is 5’9’’ and if you are male it is 5’11’’.

- Models have to have toned bodies and should also look healthy, with a healthy BMI. Your health will show in your face and if you eat the right foods and exercise regularly, good health shines through.

- Having the perfect posture is necessary for any area of modelling.

Modelling is very competitive and you need to prepare yourself for criticism during model auditions and learn to take this as constructive advice rather than negative feedback.

Audition Now offers modelling training, advice and the latest information on forthcoming casting calls.

Be in the right place at the right time

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Whether you are an actor or model, having industry contacts is really important and, should you have social connections of your own, it will certainly help you in your career.

Social connections for acting and modelling auditions, however, will not get you by forever and it is unlikely – especially if you are embarking upon a career in modelling and acting for the first time – that you have an exhaustive list of contacts.

If you are an actor then you may be working away on production sets and if you are a model then you will be used to travelling across the country and even across the world when you are working. Due to the hectic work schedules, of both types of roles it can be very difficult to keep track on the latest auditions which are taking place and that means that you could be missing out on future work.

Both acting and modelling can bring a great deal of satisfaction and personal reward, especially if a person is constantly ahead of the gamer when it comes to auditions and casting calls.

If you want to enjoy the continuing successes that your chosen industry has to bring then make sure you subscribe here at Audition Now for a regular SMS news service, which will keep you ahead of any auditions that are right for you anywhere in the UK.

In a world where there are no guarantees, we offer the best way to ensure your face is seen at the right auditions by the right people.

How to land consistent modelling jobs

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

The glamorous world of modelling is not such a glamorous world when you are searching for your next modelling auditions to find future work.

Choosing a career in modelling is no easy decision but if you know that you have what it takes then there is no reason why you may not find the fabulous jobs that you feel you deserve. Of course, there are going to be plenty of models out there who feel they too deserve the next big modelling job so stay ahead of the competition.

Just because you are struggling to find work and modelling auditions does not mean that you are not a good model. It more often than not highlights the fact that great modelling jobs are difficult to come by as a generalisation of the industry.

The fact is that there are plenty of brands out there who are running marketing and advertising campaigns and constantly holding casting calls for models to represent their brands. Many of these brands do not always need a conventional model look and modelling jobs are available to all shapes, sizes and nationalities if you know where to find them.

With a team of experienced researchers who cover the whole of the acting, theatre and modelling market, here at Audition Now we stay ahead of all important auditions up and down the UK. SMS alerts are sent directly to your mobile phone giving you plenty of time to prepare for auditions, no matter whether you are an actor or model.

Model Behaviour (and some important things you need to know about the industry!)

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

At Auditions Now, we can bring you closer to your dream of becoming a model. However, it is important to understand that there are three pathways of modelling which we can help you find casting calls for. These are catwalk, catalogue and magazine.

When deciding which pathway to choose, it might be useful to consider these facts:

• The minimum height requirement for catwalk models is 5’9″ for women and 5’11″ for men

• Catwalk models must be able to walk properly. A good way to see whether your walk is perfect yet is to film yourself and watch it back. Having a signature walk is a bonus and a lot of models do not start developing their signature struts until they have mastered the classic runway stride

• Models should have a toned and well looked after body. However, in order to stay healthy a model’s BMI should be no less than 18

• There are more niches for models of different ages and sizes in catalogue modelling but it is still vital to have a great image

• Knowing how to pose and having perfect posture are necessary skills in all three disciplines of modelling

Modelling is an extremely competitive industry to go into and models often face a lot of criticism at casting calls. However, do not forget that at Audition Now we offer a range of training and advice for models and actors and we wish you the best of luck with your next casting call!

Hard graft leads to hard cash

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

It’s not advisable when embarking on a career in modelling to think that the right marketing and social connections will get you all the way. Of course these factors contribute to most success stories, but they are not exhaustive, and attempting to break into the modelling industry is best done with both eyes open to the pitfalls and drawbacks.

A common misconception is that models are lazy and live a life of luxury doing an easy job. The reality is that there is more to modelling than having a pretty face and a nice inside leg measurement. This work is HARD – but worth it. Travel is a fundamental part of modelling. Sure, you’ll get to see a lot of the country you live in, even the globe, but travel can be very tiring and you’ll still be expected to give it your all when you arrive.

The hours can be long and the conditions harsh (swimsuit modelling in January, for example). There is a lot of stress on a shoot to run to schedule and be as smooth as possible – employing all the staff to ensure this can be very costly and as a result models have to take some very stern direction in order to get it right. These are not working conditions for the weak and shouldn’t be overlooked when considering a career in modelling.

Modelling does have its rewards – although we think you’re already aware of those! Seeing the world, meeting a vast variety of people, new experiences, earning big bucks and the inevitable confidence boost on seeing your photograph in a magazine or advertisement is the biggest reward you could ever hope for after all that hard work.

Knowing where to start your career in modelling can be more than a little overwhelming

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

There are so many factors and paths to consider. The three main types of modelling that Audition Now deals with are commercial modelling, advertising-led modelling and in-house live modelling. Audition Now helps you to decide which direction is best for you to set you on the road to getting you a professional CV, stating your acquired experience and skills. Subscribing to Audition Now’s text alert system will keep you in the loop as to where the next big opportunity shoot is in your chosen area, meaning you have more time to spend preparing and perfecting your look.

There are many pitfalls in trying to become a model. The internet is laden with scams waiting to take advantage of an aspiring model who is new to the scene, so tread with caution – especially if you are asked to pay for portfolio photographs up front. A good reputable photographer should never charge you before the photographs have been taken. It helps to familiarise yourself a little with the industry and its lingo before speaking with agencies.

Audition Now ’s text alert service simply gives you a heads up on the latest tips and photo shoots near you for the price of a text message. No commission is subtracted from any of your hard earned money and unsubscribing from this service is as easy as texting “STOP”. Audition Now means you are always updated as to where the next opportunity is which could lead to your big break.
