Fashion weeks in Paris, New York, Milan and London can be the most uber glamorous places to be. Most aspiring models, whilst endeavouring to fine hone their own styles and signature walks, are inspired by iconic catwalk images of Kate, Naomi, Heidi, Claudia, Cindy, Linda, Giselle, Adrianna et al strutting their stuff on the catwalks of the world’s fashion capitals.Catwalk modelling is as hotly contested as all other types of photographic modelling jobs and it has the potential to lead to high rates of pay, world travel and, even in the cases of the aforementioned names and others like them, extraordinary celebrity and the potential for further lucrative opportunities outside of their modelling careers. However, casting teams for catwalk shows are very specific in their requirements, as they are not only looking for beauty, but luminescence, presence, style and of course, great walks. Designers and their teams are very often open to considering only certain looks, dependent upon their overall styles and natures of the collections they are showcasing on their catwalks. The fashion industry has a reputation for being brutal and critiques can be scathingly harsh. We, at Audition Now, give as much notice as possible of catwalk modelling opportunities, and can send out text alerts as soon as our team of modelling researchers have sourced the information. We also aim to be specific to ensure that models do not have the disappointment of attending opportunities unsuitable for them and thus increasing their chances of succeeding at best suited selections.

Sashaying towards catwalk modelling success
Thursday, December 22nd, 2011Getting in to modelling can be an ugly ordeal
Tuesday, December 20th, 2011There are many different forms of modelling that would be models might be best suited to, from commercial and catalogue, to glamour, to cat walk, to magazine and high fashion. All types of modelling work, from the most seemingly trivial to top contracts with haute couture brands are highly coveted, and of the hundreds of thousands of would be models around the world, there are very few who scale the heights of domination enjoyed by household names such as Kate Moss, Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and others. That said, all types of modelling assignments available can provide regular and well paid work, albeit not necessarily what models would not get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day for! The work can be exceptionally challenging and, given the furious competition that exists for every available assignment, only the most dedicated and tough are likely to secure jobs on a regular basis. Models need portfolios to take to rounds of casting calls known as ‘go sees’ in the modelling industry and must be prepared to toughen themselves up against harsh criticism and rejection due to their weight, height, skin and hair types, as designers often have a very clear idea of what they are looking for to represent their collections. We at Audition Now offer free sign up to our email newsletters, plus a text alert service, which does not exceed more than three texts per week to ensure that aspiring models are forewarned about potential job opportunities.
Being ready to shine at open auditions
Wednesday, December 14th, 2011Preparation for open acting auditions is all important for aspiring actors hoping to secure their dream roles, regardless of whether these roles are simply bit parts to get a foot on the ladder or starring roles. All roles, regardless of their size or perceived importance, are hotly contested, as, to thousands of people who take part in amateur dramatics up to Oscar winning stars of the big screen, acting is far more than just a job. It is a passion and a lifestyle.Whilst acting auditions vary considerably between the two poles, good preparation is a mark of professionalism to both. Actors attending open auditions have generally not yet made their names to the extent that they have agents touting and bargaining on their behalf, or Casting Directors approaching them with specific roles in mind. On the contrary, they may have little or no professional experience and be desperate for opportunities to get their talent noticed to ultimately lead to even the smallest role in any production. With open auditions, candidates might be provided with lines or scenarios in advance, for which rehearsal and getting themselves in the right mindset can be a make or break situation. They may be asked to improvise on the spot.At Audition Now, we aim to not only take the stress out of finding out about open auditions, but to give actors optimum advanced notice to maximise their preparation time. Our acting text alerts provide this service.
See Your Name in Lights
Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011There’s nothing better than knowing you’ve made it. People will recognise you in the street and you’ll see your name in lights at all the best events, but it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get there. It’s important you’re fully prepared for the journey to come, and being ready for those all-important auditions should be at the top of the list.
Of course, how you prepare depends on the type of career you’re looking for. If you want to make your mark in the West End then you’ll need to make sure your acting and singing skills are all up to scratch, or if you want to be a model then you’ll need to make sure you’ve got a flawless portfolio. Actors will need to prepare a reading and will always need to practice beforehand whilst those heading to dance auditions will need to prepare accordingly – whatever type of career you’re aiming for, it’s essential to be the best you can be to really excel and make that right impression.
Then, of course, it’s time to start working your way up the ladder. Some people get their big break straight away but for others the course doesn’t always run as smoothly, and it’s often the case of starting out in a TV extras capacity or perhaps simply getting small parts. If you’ve got the talent and a bit of luck on your side then you’ll be spotted, and if you want to stand the best possible chance then sign up for our text alert service (£1.50 per text, max 3 texts per week, over 18s only) for access to the best casting calls out there and you could soon see your name in lights.
Keep Cool at your Casting Call
Wednesday, June 29th, 2011Auditions can be a stressful experience and everyone gets nervous at times but there are some things you can do to help you to stay calm under pressure.
Make sure your CV and photo portfolio are up-to-date. If you will be auditioning for a specific role then do some research in advance so that you know what the director may be looking for. Rehearse your audition pieces beforehand and make sure they’re appropriate to the role.
Try to get an early night the evening before your audition and avoid drinking too much alcohol. You don’t want to arrive with dark circles under your eyes, or a hangover. If your casting call is before or during a mealtime then make sure to eat before you arrive, but avoid foods with a strong aroma such as onions or garlic.
If you’re going somewhere new then ensure that you know where you’re going. Research alternative transport options and take a map if you’re going to an unfamiliar location. Try to arrive early for open acting auditions so that you have time to look over any audition script.
When you are called in take a deep breath and then breathe out slowly. Relax your jaw, if you’ve tensed it, and smile. Remember to be yourself during your interview. Smile and make eye contact with the director.
To make it easier for you to find acting casting calls just sign up to our text alert service here at Audition Now. You must be 18 years and over. Texts cost £1.50 each and you’ll receive a maximum of 3 texts per week.

Find Out Where your True Talent Lies
Tuesday, April 26th, 2011If you are seeking to make it big in disciplines such as modelling, acting and musical theatre, you have a lot of work ahead of you. Such fields are extremely competitive and it is not hard to see why. Those who achieve success can potentially look forward to considerable fame and fortune, and a varied and interesting working life.
But to have a hope of reaching this stage, it is vital you hone your talents. Part of this is deciding where exactly your abilities lie. For example, if you are an actor, you ought to think carefully about the sort of roles you are best suited to.
Perhaps you are perfect for comedic roles. In this case, you should seek auditions for positions like this. On the other hand, you might be better when you are playing heavy, dramatic characters, meaning you should focus on these types of acting casting calls.
Similarly, when it comes to modelling, you should decide what your strengths are and focus on these. Developing an appropriate portfolio and putting yourself forward for the most suitable casting sessions is vital.
Being strategic in this way may significantly increase your chances of success and it means you can concentrate more on developing your abilities, which is great news for your career as a whole.
To make your life easier when it comes to finding out about castings, you might want to consider taking advantage of our text alert service here at Audition Now. However, you must be 18 or over. Texts cost £1.50 each, with a maximum of 3 texts per week.
Don’t Lose Heart at Casting Calls
Friday, April 22nd, 2011Attending casting calls can be a nerve-wracking experience. While compared to other people you know, your acting, singing or modelling abilities might be superb, when you find yourself among a large number of extremely talented individuals, your confidence might take a dive.
Realising the level of competition around is never pleasant as it brings into focus exactly how difficult your task is.
However, the important thing is not to lose heart at this stage. You have worked hard to get here and you would be letting yourself down if you are intimidated and cannot perform as well as you would like.
So, you should keep your head high and give your all. Obviously, you cannot always be successful during such auditions, but as long as you put in 100 per cent effort, you stand as good a chance as anyone.
And remember, the other people around you are also experiencing nerves. Often, people develop the ability to look completely calm and in control during acting casting calls and other such events but the truth may be far from this.
You have just as much right to be in the room as anyone else and you should never feel differently.
So that you don’t miss out on opportunities like this, you might want to think about singing up to our text alert service for casting sessions here at Audition Now. But to be eligible for this, you must be 18 or over. £1.50 per text, with a max of 3 texts per week.
What are Casting Calls?
Monday, December 27th, 2010When TV executives come up with new program, they will often have an exact idea of the kinds of people that they are looking for, and are often willing to cast their nets as wide as possible in order to find the right actors or participants. This is why they issue casting calls, which essentially are notifications that casting for a role has begun.
There are all sorts of casting calls, such as TV casting calls and reality TV casting calls, and often these will be issued in different ways. For example, if a production company is looking for actors for TV, often they will issue casting calls through casting agencies or agents if they are looking for trained actors.
For something like reality TV or casting for extras, casting calls are often issued more indiscriminately, as often production companies are looking for untrained members of the public, and will usually prefer people who don’t have any experience in the industry.
This means that for anyone who doesn’t have any acting experience, but still wants to get their foot in the door with some TV experience, often the most effective route to go down is reality TV or becoming an extra.
This is where Audition Now can really help, for as long as you are 18 years or older, you can sign up to our service – which will cost only £1.50 per text with max of 3 texts per week – and get notification of casting calls; ensuring that you never miss the oppourtunity to get into the industry again!
